A Brief History of Conor Fleming Opticians

32 years ago, a young Conor Fleming, qualified from DIT Kevin St as an optometrist
Working as a newly qualified optician in Dublin and London, Conor
set his sights on opening his own practice in his hometown, Clonmel.

With encouragement from his family, Conor opened his first practice at No 50
Gladstone Street. The early years were spent building a business from this small,
intimate location.With his mum Mrs Bernie Fleming, front of house a it wasn’t
long before he had established his reputation as a diligent optician, with a caring,
local touch.

In 2004 the premises at No. 53 Gladstone Street went on the market. Seeing the
potential in this building, Conor moved. Building a new modern, bright spacious
practice, designed and fitted with the most up to date equipment.
Our reception area is on the ground floor and where we display our vast range of
optical frames and sunglasses. Sight tests are carried out on the first floor, which
is easy to access via stairs or lift. The lab is on the second floor with a separate
room for our contact lens teaches. Conor has updated the decor of the practice
this year, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant experience for his clients.

In 2022, despite the pandemic, Conor strives to advance his skills and technical advancements, staying ahead in his profession without losing the personal touch.

Conors latest investment has been the Topcon Maestro OCT Scanner (see our blog). This is so technically advanced it can detect signs of Glaucoma, among other serious eye conditions. Its cutting edge technology gives Conor a better ability to detect minute changes in the retina and optic nerve than is possible in standard eye test.
